Trwy gyfrwng llais yn y glust, mae’r ap yn cyfleu yn Saesneg yr hyn sy’n cael ei ddweud ar y llwyfan, ac mae ar gael i aelodau’r gynulleidfa i’w ddefnyddio ar eu ffonau personol neu drwy fenthyg teclyn gan y cwmni cyn i’r sioe ddechrau. Dywedodd Arwel Gruffydd, Cyfarwyddwr Artistig Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru:
“Mae cefnogi artistiaid theatr ar eu prifiant, a chwmnïau theatr newydd, yn greiddiol i weledigaeth Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru. Rydym yn falch iawn o gyd-weithio gyda’r cwmni ifanc hwn, sydd â gweledigaeth glir, feiddgar a chynhwysol. Dyma ddrama dwymgalon, wedi’i gosod yng Nghymoedd y De ddiwedd y 1980au, sy’n rhoi profiadau heriol pobl ifanc ym mhob oes ar ganol y llwyfan. Mae trosiad cywrain a hyderus Gwawr Loader nid yn unig yn cadarnhau pa mor berthnasol yw’r ddrama eithriadol hon i gymunedau ledled gwledydd Prydain, ond hefyd yn arwyddo talent newydd ym myd y theatr Gymraeg. Rydym hefyd yn falch iawn o gefnogi Sion Pritchard fel cyfarwyddwr y gwaith, ac Elin Phillips fel ei gynorthwyydd, wrth iddynt hwythau hefyd ddatblygu eu crefft.”

Dywedodd Gwawr Loader ac Elin Phillips o Criw Brwd:

“Ry’n ni wrth ein bodd ein bod yn cael cyd-weithio â thri actor mor dalentog ar gyfer Pryd Mae’r Haf? Roedd cwrdd ag Aron, Ella a Cellan yn ystod y cyfnod clyweld yn bleser pur ac rydym yn aros yn eiddgar i’w gweld yn yr ystafell ymarfer, dan gyfarwyddyd crefftus Sion Pritchard. Mae cyd-weithio â’n cwmni theatr cenedlaethol Cymraeg yn hwb anferthol i ni ac rydym yn gwerthfawrogi’n fawr hefyd gefnogaeth Theatr Soar a The Other Room. Doedden ni erioed wedi dychmygu y byddai’r ddrama’n cael llwyfan ar hyd a lled y wlad ac rydym hefyd yn edrych ymlaen at weld sut fydd cynulleidfaoedd ar draws Cymru yn ymateb i’r stori hynod hon.”

Announcing the tour and cast for ‘Pryd Mae’r Haf?’

Criw Brwd and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru are delighted to announce the details of Pryd Mae’r Haf?, a new production by both companies for 2020. The play will be staged at Theatr Soar, Merthyr Tydfil, and The Other Room, Cardiff, in February 2020, before touring throughout Wales between 20 April and 8 May 2020.

Both companies are pleased to reveal that the actors will be Aron Cynan, Ella Peel and Cellan Wyn. Aron Cynan has recently graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff; during his time at the college, he acted in a number of productions with the Richard Burton Company and recently appeared in 35 Awr on S4C. Ella Peel is a familiar face to viewers of Pobol y Cwm, in which she played the part of Hannah Francis. She has also acted in programmes and series such as Parch, 35 Diwrnod, Y Streic a Fi and Y Gwyll / Hinterland (S4C). Following his success in Bachu – a production by Melangell Dolma, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Theatr Clwyd, which was highly praised at the Conwy County National Eisteddfod 2019 – Cellan Wyn is the third member of the Pryd Mae’r Haf? cast. Sion Pritchard will be directing the play, with Elin Phillips (Awenau programme, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru) as Assistant Director.

Pryd Mae’r Haf?, Gwawr Loader’s Welsh translation of the play Christmas is Miles Away by Chloë Moss, will be presented by Criw Brwd and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in partnership with Theatr Soar and The Other Room. It will be staged at  Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff in February, before touring to the following venues in April and May 2020: Ffwrnes, Llanelli (20 & 21 April); Canolfan Garth Olwg, Church Village (23 & 24 April); Pontio, Bangor (25 April); Theatr Twm o’r Nant, Denbigh (28 April); Riverfront, Newport (30 April); Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, Carmarthen (1 & 2 May); Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan (5 May); Aberystwyth Arts Centre (6 & 7 May); Galeri, Caernarfon (8 May). Tickets for the tour are now available at several venues.

In each performance, Sibrwd – Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s language access app – will be available to guide members of the audience through the play, whether or not they are fluent in the Welsh language. By means of a voice in the ear, the app conveys in English the words that are spoken on the stage, and it is available for members of the audience to use on their personal phones or by borrowing a device from the company before the start of the show. There will also be a BSL interpreted performance on 12 February 2020 in The Other Room, Cardiff.

Arwel Gruffydd, Artistic Director of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, said:
“Supporting emerging theatre artists and new theatre companies is at the heart of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s mission. We are delighted to be collaborating with this young company that has a clear, bold and inclusive vision. This is a heartfelt play, set in the South Wales Valleys at the end of the 1980s, that puts centre stage the challenging experiences facing young people in every age. Gwawr Loader’s skillful and confident translation not only confirms how relevant this exceptional play is to communities throughout the British Isles, but in addition it denotes a significant new talent in Welsh theatre. We are also very pleased to support Sion Pritchard as the director of the work, and Elin Phillips as his assistant, as they too develop their craft.”

Gwawr Loader and Elin Phillips of Criw Brwd said:

“We’re delighted to work with three very talented actors for Pryd Mae’r Haf? It was a pleasure to meet Aron, Ella and Cellan during the audition process and we’re looking forward to seeing them in the rehearsal room, under the direction of Sion Pritchard. Working with our national Welsh-language theatre company is a massive boost to us and we’re also very grateful for the support from Theatr Soar and The Other Room. We never imagined this play would be staged up and down the country and we’re really looking forward to seeing how audiences across Wales will respond to this remarkable story.”
